1.  Upgrades and changes

Matlab/Autocad/Solidworks upgraded
    The Win2K cluster has had its software upgraded.  They now have:
    Matlab Release 14 Update 2
    Autocad 2005
    Solidworks 2004

New matlab toolboxes installed
    The Linux cluster Matlab has been upgraded to Release 14 Update 2.
    The symbolic and statistics toolboxes have been installed as well.

helium.berkeley.edu upgraded to Solaris 10
    helium.berkeley.edu has been upgraded to Solaris 10.  No
    application software has been installed on this server.  This will
    be used as a secondary login server for people interested in using
    Solaris.  Software applications have not been installed on this
    server.  However, if you use webssh.decf.berkeley.edu to log in,
    you will be logging into helium.berkeley.edu beginnning 5/1/05.

2.  Important system changes
New print quota fee change
    Beginning 7/1/05, the print quota fee will be amended.  Color
    pages will now cost 30 cents per copy.  Other charges remain the
    same.

New disk quota upgrade fee
    Beginning 7/1/05, disk quota upgrade fees will be halved.  Disk
    upgrades will cost $7 / 100MB / year instead of $14.  

decf.berkeley.edu retired
    decf.berkeley.edu will be retired 5/1/05.  People with data on the
    server will need to move them off to kepler.berkeley.edu instead.  
    Please send an email to consult@newton.berkeley.edu if you need to
    move your files off.

Looking for webmail beta testers
    We're now looking for beta testers for a new version of webmail,
    which will have a groupware feel to it.  Please send an email to
    consult@newton.berkeley.edu if you're interested in
    participating.

3. DECF Info & How to Un-Subscribe

The DECF newsletter is published at least once every semester.  These
mailings will highlight major system upgrades, changes, and
announcements.  The newsletter is sent to all DECF users.  You may
receive multiple emails if you have several different accounts with
DECF.  Instructions to unsubscribe are at end of email.

What is DECF?  DECF provides computing services to the departments of
ME, IEOR, CE, NE, MSE, and BioE.  This includes email service, class
and general compute service, web service, finger, IP name service,
overall network security, and other computing-related needs common to
the labs and departments.  DECF also aids to resolve network-related
problems.
