1. Notes & Reminders.

Newton slowness:
In recent weeks, many users have reported on the slowness of
newton. The number of DECF users, as well as software
requirements, have been increasing. We will be adding a new
dedicated mail server to alleviate the load on newton. You'll
be receiving additional information when we're ready to move
user home directories over to the new server.

In the meantime, __please refrain from running computational jobs
on newton__. You can use any of the 5101 lab Sun workstations.
The workstations are behind a firewall. To access it remotely,
just ssh to decf.berkeley.edu, then ssh to any of the
       workstations. Workstations names are:
lindy-hop, sock-hop, fandango, rumba, flamenco, polka,
mazurka, waltz, minuet, charleston, twist, foxtrot, jitterbug

If the software you're using isn't installed on
       decf.berkeley.edu, please email nlin@newton.berkeley.edu.
