2. Summary of Upgrades/New Services

Spam filter available for POP users.
DECF has been offering spam filter software for a year. However,
few people have taken advantage of our spam filter. In light of
the steady increase in spam emails, we will be filtering all email
    messages for spam.

Beginning 12/9/02, all potential spam messages will have the
    subject line
      "** PROBABLE SPAM **"

Spam filter works by scoring each email message. Messages scoring
above a certain number will be considered spam. We will be
setting this number very high to make sure we don't flag
    legitimate messages.

POP users can then set up a client-side filter to
filter marked Spam messages, go to
    http://www.decf.berkeley.edu/help/mail/spam.html

NOTE: IMAP users (including users of Pine and WebMail) can have
all Spam messages automatically moved to the Spam folder by
default. For more information on how to set up, go to
    http://www.decf.berkeley.edu/help/mail/spam.html

INBOX quota combined with account quota.
Beginning 11/18/02, all emails are being delivered into your home
directory. As such, INBOX quotas are now combined with your
regular account quotas. Account quotas has been increased
accordingly. Users can now keep more email in their INBOX. For
more information on quotas, please see
    http://www.decf.berkeley.edu/help/quota/quota.html
