Mail Over Quota

If you're running out of disk quota on the mail server, there are a few things you can do

Option #1

  • Upgrade your disk quota
  • Option #2

  • Move some of your mail to your local computer. NoteThis means that there will be no backup of your email on our server.
    1. Thunderbird
      • Download email software such as Thunderbird onto your computer.
      • Download Archive Tools Extension onto your Desktop
      • Click on Tools->Add Ons, then drag that file you saved onto the newly opened window. You will need to restart your Thunderbird after this. If dragging the file doesn't work, click on the Install button at the bottom of the window, find the .xpi file you downloaded and install that.
      • Right click on your IMAP folder
      • Click on Archive Messages. It will ask you what to archive (ex. select messages older than 90 days). You can even configure it to not archive certain folders. Then just sit back and wait for the archiving process to finish. It will move it to a local folder called "Archive on username@imap" or something like that.
    2. Other clients such as Outlook
      • Configure your client to download using IMAP-SSL. IMAP will allow you to see all the mail boxes you have, including your INBOX.
      • Supposing you want to move all emails in your sent-mail folder. First create a sent-mail folder on your LOCAL mail folders.
      • Then just drag and drop all the messages that are on the sent-mail folder on the server onto the locally created sent-mail folder. Usually a Control-A will allow you to select all messages.
