What is it?

Web-based Mail is an email system that allows you to read your email from any computer connected to the Internet using a web browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. The Web Mail system will use IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to download email from the server, which is particularly suitable to mobile users who like to access their mail on multiple computers.
